Iraq to ease visa procedures for Jordanian truck drivers

AMMAN — The joint Jordanian-Iraqi committee concluded its meetings on Tuesday. Over three days, Amman and Baghdad explored ways to overcome the challenges facing the movement of Jordanian goods to and from Iraq.
The committee also decided to enable Jordanian truck drivers to obtain multiple-entry visas to Iraq valid for six months.
Transport Ministry Secretary General Laith Dababneh said the committee will discuss opening a transit route for Jordanian agricultural exports to Turkey and Europe in future meetings.
Iraq has concluded all technical procedures to grant passage for Jordanian commodities through Iraq en route to Turkey and European countries, according to officials taking part in a meeting of the joint Jordanian-Iraqi Committee on Transport and Trade.
The Jordanian-Iraqi Technical Committee for Railway Transport on Monday convened to discuss the latest studies and measures taken by both sides to implement the railway project.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour arrived back home Thursday, concluding an official visit to Baghdad where he held talks with his Iraqi counterpart that focused on means to enhance bilateral ties.
