AMMAN — The Jordan Times distributes on Monday the 27th issue of Al Qibla newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Great Arab Revolt.

The four-page newspaper dedicates its front page to a statement by the scholars of Mecca to the Muslim world in which they stressed the need to stick to the rules, principles and ethics of Islam.

The scholars also highlighted the need to confront several practices that were not in line with Islamic teachings, noting the spread of corruption and oppression by the Ottomans.

The newspaper also features articles detailing the ways in which the Ottomans worked to destroy the social fabric and bonds of families.

The edition includes poetry that laments the situation of the Arabs and highlights that the revolt was intended to revive the Arab identity and civilisation.

It also covers several news items related to developments elsewhere in the region and in France, Italy and across Europe.

The distribution of Al Qibla (1916-1924) by The Jordan Times and other local dailies is part of celebrations of the centennial of the Great Arab Revolt.
