AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone, in coordination with the Military Security Directorate, on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle “big amounts” of narcotics from Syria into Jordan.
A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that army personnel applied the rules of engagement before smugglers retreated into the Syrian territories, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Searching the area, JAF personnel found 353,000 Captagon pills, 150 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 1,388 strips of Galica, 87 tramadol strips and 500 grammes of crystal, which all were referred to relevant authorities, the source added.
The source added that the army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts, protecting the Kingdom’s borders and citizens.
