AMMAN — Akie Abe, the Japanese prime minister’s wife, on Sunday attended a lunch with Japanese officials from international organisations and members of Japanese NGOs that are involved in assisting Syrian refugees in Jordan, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.

During the lunch, she was acquainted with the various activities for helping refugees, which include in-kind assistance, educational help and mental healthcare. She was also briefed on the difficulties and the significance of these activities.

Abe encouraged the lunch participants by saying: “I am proud that the Japanese people and the Jordanian people, who are generous to receive so many refugees, are working together in the area of assistance.”
