By JT - Nov 19,2014 - Last updated at Nov 19,2014
AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani on Wednesday said that the government is closely following up on the dangerous situation in Jerusalem and is calling for restraint from both sides.
In press remarks, Momani, who is also acting foreign minister, stressed the importance of easing tension and ending violence in Jerusalem, renewing Jordan's denunciation of all forms of violence against civilians from both sides.
Momani also called for an immediate halt to the Israeli unilateral measures in Jerusalem and its frequent assaults on Al Haram Al Sharif and Al Aqsa Mosque, underlining Jordanian custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the old city.
The minister also called on the international community to push for an end to violence and terror in the Middle East through creating a conducive environment for the resumption of serious and fruitful peace negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.
