Jordan, China discuss projected university

Jan 17,2015 - Last updated at Jan 17,2015

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Saturday met with representatives of the China University of Geosciences and discussed measures to establish a Sino-Jordanian university in the Kingdom.

Ensour said Jordan looks to further higher education cooperation with China.

Last week, Higher Education Minister Amin Mahmoud met with the university’s president, Wang Yanxin, and discussed the projected Sino-Jordanian university.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the university, which will include three faculties with 15 majors.

Mahmoud noted that the university will help bridge the gap between education outcomes and the needs of the knowledge-based economy.

The final draft of the agreement will likely be signed in China in February.
