NEW YORK — Jordan said on Thursday its contribution to UN peacekeeping operations represents a clear commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and its “noble goals”.
During a UN Security Council session that focused on peacekeeping operations, Jordan’s Permanent Envoy to the UN Dina Kawar stressed that UN peacekeeping operations should continue to abide by transparency, integrity and neutrality, and protect civilians through clearly defined strategies.
Kawar underscored the important mission of peacekeepers and highlighted challenges facing them, emphasising the need to boost their readiness and capabilities to deal with challenges that may jeopardise the safety and security of the UN workers.
