AMMAN — The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) recently organised a regional dialogue titled “Creating a Middle East and North Africa Protection Framework for Trafficked Persons and Exploited Migrants: A Regional Dialogue on Sharing Promising Practices on Protection”.
The dialogue brought together senior government officials working directly to combat human trafficking from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Kuwait to share experiences in protecting trafficked persons and exploited migrants in their countries, according to an IOM statement.
The dialogue was aimed at initiating discussions on the development of a regional framework for protecting victims in the Middle East and North Africa.
It concluded with recommendations on enhanced protection measures for victims of trafficking and exploited labour migrants, and underlined the need for collaborative efforts across the region through targeted and coordinated actions, the statement said.
