AMMAN — Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai, on Monday presented the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) with an Arab Social Media Influencers Award for tourist institutions.

During the ceremony, which was organised by the Dubai Press Club (DPC), Director General of JTB Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat received the award. The ceremony was held at the 2018 Social Media Influencers Summit and was attended by her Majesty Queen Rania, according to a JTB statement issued on Monday.

Arabiat highlighted the award's contributions to enhancing tourism by encouraging new ideas on social media platforms.

He added that millions of people follow #visitjordan; 116, 000 on the Instagram, 250,000 on twitter and 560,000 on Facebook.

Arabiat said that the JTB had adopted tourists’ suggestions on its promotion policy, adding that the board's social media accounts include foreign languages.

The award ceremony, which was launched by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashed Al Maktoum in 2015, aims to honour Arab social media influencers in 31 categories, including individuals and institutions, to support positive and creative interaction, according to the statement.
