AMMAN — The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) will host representatives of key British media institutions next month, JTB’s Managing Director Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat said on Wednesday.

Between September 20 and 23, the JTB will host representatives of UK News Corporation, which includes the internationally recognised publications of The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun, as well as other print and online media outlets.

Over 100 representatives of British travel agencies, airlines and online booking websites will also attend the event, the JTB director told The Jordan Times.

The event is an opportunity to introduce decision makers in the British tourism market to the local tourism product, as well as providing a venue for building prospect partnerships.

The British market is one of the major traditional markets for local tourism.

Tourism Minister Lina Annab and Royal Jordanian President and CEO Stefan Pichler, are scheduled to address the audience at the event.

A number of international companies working in the tourism and travel sectors have confirmed their attendance to the event, including Cox and Kings, Hays and Jarvis, Tui, Abercrombie and Kent, Travelbag, Expedia, Trip Advisor, British Airways, as well as Virgin and Emirates airlines.

Numbers of European tourists to the Kingdom have increased by 18.3 per cent in the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year, according to official figures.
