AMMAN — Higher Youth Council President Sami Majali on Wednesday discussed means to support youth programmes in Jordan and the Arab world with the UN Secretary General’s Youth Envoy Ahmad Al Hindawi.
The two officials agreed on holding a consultative meeting with representatives of UN agencies to improve programmes targeting young Arabs.
UN Secretary General’s Youth Envoy Ahmad Al Hindawi on Friday took the oath of office before UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, starting his official work to meet the needs of youths worldwide.
Ahmad Al Hindawi, the UN secretary general’s envoy on youth, on Wednesday underlined the need to maximise young people’s participation in the development process as they are “the driving force, but unfortunately not in the driving seat”.
The world has to provide 600 million job opportunities in the next 15 years to meet the demands of young people, UN Secretary General’s Youth Envoy Ahmad Hindawi said on Sunday.
