AMMAN — Jordanian Eva Abu Halaweh will be honoured as one of the winners of the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law established by Germany and France.

Abu Halaweh is a lawyer and human rights activist who was awarded the International Women of Courage Award in 2011. The first prize will be awarded this week, the German embassy said in a statement to The Jordan Times.

“We will honour women and men who are showing great dedication in standing up for the rights of their fellow human beings. They often do so at significant personal risk and under difficult conditions. They deserve our thanks and support,” the statement said.
