AMMAN — The King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), in collaboration with ADC Logistics, has been working on an extendable mobile clinic unit to “serve His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision of reaching out to humanity and helping those in need during these extremely crucial times”.

In a copy of the clinic’s draft design made available to The Jordan Times, KADDB stated that the idea “came with paramount pride and appreciation for the tremendous efforts that Jordan has exerted in combatting the worldwide crisis that is COVID-19, and as an extension of that momentum”.

The bureau mentioned that, with over one billion people unable to obtain the health services they need because of funding inaccessibility, unavailability or shortage, the mobile clinic can serve as “a fully functional medical unit in isolated areas or in countries with a limited number of COVID-19 testing and treatment facilities, ICU units and overall healthcare needs”.

According to KADDB, as a country with limited resources, Jordan “has nonetheless been able to help countries all across the globe, as per His Majesty’s directions to reach out to anyone and everyone that has suffered from this calamity”.

The bureau chose to translate His Majesty’s vision into accessible aid via portable testing, evaluation and treatment mobile clinics.

The mobile clinic can be equipped for several healthcare applications, among which is COVID-19 testing and care for infected people, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and primary healthcare services.

“With both functionality and aesthetics at the core of its design, our solution looks modern and clinical. When designing this COVID-19 fully equipped ICU mobile clinic, the focus was primarily on user-friendliness and patient experience. This makes the unit flexible,” stated KADDB in the design plan.

“Our mobile clinic unit is designed to provide ease of operation, safety, reliability and accessibility for repair and maintenance,” the bureau added.

The interior of the mobile unit is furnished with “premium medical grade finishes that adhere to the highest levels of code compliance; from flooring, ceilings and sidewalls to every other component where sterility is vital”, it noted.

KADDB also said that the medical mobile unit “can withstand any extreme weather conditions, as the inside temperature is guaranteed to be steady and secure, wherever the unit may be stationed or transported and whatever the circumstances”.
