King Abdullah visits Palestine

RAMALLAH – His Majesty King Abdullah arrived in Ramallah on Thursday on a short visit for talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a Royal Court statement said.
The statement said the talks will focus on efforts to revive the Middle East peace process with the aim of arriving at the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The visit, the first by an Arab leader since the Palestinians gained upgraded UN status, is part of continuous coordination between Jordan and the Palestinian authority, according to the statement.
His Majesty King Abdullah returned to the Kingdom on Tuesday after concluding a private visit, a Royal Court statement said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to begin a working visit to Jordan on Tuesday, during which he will hold talks with His Majesty King Abdullah, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday stressed the need for continuous and close coordination between Jordan and Palestine regarding all stages of the peace process, “in a way that safeguards Jordan’s national interests”.
