King commends dedication of Jordanian labourers of all professions

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday commended Jordanians working in all professions on the occasion of Labour Day.

At a ceremony held by the Greater Amman Municipality and attended by 3,000 Jordanians, King Abdullah lauded all workers for their dedication, achievements and excellence.

“Jordanians are known for their dedication. You are the builders of this nation,” His Majesty said, noting that with the determination of Jordanians, the country will always be on the right track.

At the ceremony, held at the King Abdullah II Sports City in Quweismeh and attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, the King honoured a number of public and private sector workers from around Jordan, who represent exemplary models in determination, dedication and achievements.

The ceremony included a number of music performances and was attended by senior officials and officers.

Rabia Obeidat, a textile employee at an Irbid factory, who was one of the 15 people honoured by the King, expressed her pride in being recognised for her 15-year career as well as her social involvement in the community.

“This gesture by the King is an important push for the labourers that makes us feel appreciated,” Obeidat told The Jordan Times.

Mohammad Malaji, who has been working at Royal Jordanian airlines for the past 26 years, said he was very happy to be one of the honoured “on this special day”.

“I consider today’s recognition by King Abdullah as a reward to all labourers working in Jordan that will encourage us to work harder,” Malaji said.

For Mahmoud Sleimin from Maan, who works in the Jordan Hijaz Railway Corporation, the recognition “reflects my 16-year commitment at work”.

“I am hopeful that all my colleagues and all labourers who work hard would be recognised like me by the King and officials because this is an important step to encourage workers to work hard and excel in their professions,” Sleimin told The Jordan Times.
