AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah has directed the government to develop a new comprehensive financing programme, along clear and transparent criteria, that includes funding, training and supporting youth to start small- and medium-sized projects, creating jobs and sources of income.

At a meeting with a group of young entrepreneurs, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, King Abdullah stressed that the programme should benefit young men and women from all governorates, providing them with business guidance and access to a network of technical and financial experts, according to a Royal Court statement.

The meeting covered several ideas and suggestions provided by youth, representing various governorates, to expand and develop their projects as well as their comments on obstacles facing them, such as the lack of technical support and financing difficulties.

King Abdullah pointed out that young men and women are the future of Jordan, noting the importance of adopting their ideas and supporting their aspirations in order to advance the nation.

His Majesty reiterated his confidence in Jordanian youth and their ability to succeed, commending their determination and resolve as a source of strength that will contribute to the progress and prosperity of the Kingdom, the statement said.

In a Tweet on Wednesday, the King expressed pride in Jordanian youth, noting his pleasure at being among them.

“Your determination inspires mine. When you glow with happiness, I guarantee my future happiness. I was so proud when I was surrounded by young Jordanians from different parts of the country,” the King said on his official Twitter account, adding: “You are the pillar of our homeland, and with you and by you the Kingdom’s renaissance continues.”

During the meeting, the young entrepreneurs highlighted their experiences in launching their projects, turning innovative ideas into businesses in various fields, including education, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, design, marketing and tourism.

The meeting is part of ongoing outreach with youth reflecting the King’s keenness to follow up on their progress, support their aspirations, promote innovation and find effective solutions to unemployment, the statement added.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Adviser to His Majesty for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh, and Adviser to His Majesty for Policies and Media Kamal Al Nasser attended the meeting.
