AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with a delegation of senior officers from the US National Defence University "Capstone Fellows" headed by Gen. Gregory S. Martin.

The conversation focussed in Jordan's pivotal role on realising peace and stability in the Middle East.

It also covered the Palestinian issue and peace efforts, with His Majesty stressing the need to intensify efforts to relaunch negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution that should establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The King stressed the importance of supporting the UNRWA to enable it to continue providing educational and health services to refugees.

His Majesty and the delegation reviewed the developments of the Syrian crisis and the situation in Iraq, as well as the war against terrorism and Jordanian-Russian-American agreement to support a ceasefire in southern Syria and establishing the de-escalation zone, which would contribute to reaching a political solution.

For the their part, the delegation members voiced their appreciation for Jordan’s stances, under His Majesty’s leadership, that support international peace and stability.
