King urges police to enforce law fairly, observe human rights

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Tuesday visited the Public Security Department (PSD), according to a Royal Court statement.
During the visit, PSD Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Sarhan Faqih briefed His Majesty on the latest plans to improve police work. He showcased the department's executive plans and measures taken to improve police services provided to the public, in addition to updates made to crime-combating strategies.
The King highlighted the importance of improving the performance of PSD units and keeping up with scientific and technological advances in their field of work. He noted the necessity to integrate those changes into the police system in order to increase the effectiveness of their measures and to provide the best services to citizens and residents in the Kingdom.
His Majesty also stressed the importance of enforcing the law on all individuals without leniency to achieve justice and equality for all while upholding the highest human rights' standards in accordance with updated security strategies and clear purposes.
King Abdullah commended the efforts exerted by PSD officers to protect people and preserve their safety and peace, the statement said.
