Kuwait emir commends ties with Jordan

AMMAN — Kuwait Emir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on Monday stressed the deep-rooted Jordanian-Kuwaiti ties, voicing hope for more growth and prosperity.

The Kuwait emir made the remarks during a meeting with Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani and an accompanying delegation, along with other Arab delegates participating in the 13th Arab Media Forum, which concluded Monday.

Momani, who is also government spokesperson, conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings to the Kuwait emir, stressing that Jordan highly appreciates the Gulf country’s support at all levels, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister also highlighted Jordanian-Kuwaiti cooperation in countering extremist ideology.

At a separate meeting with Kuwait Information Minister Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al Hmoud Al Sabah, Momani thanked Kuwait for its support for Jordan and for Syrians in Jordan, according to Petra. 

At the media forum, discussions covered several issues related to the developments in the region.

In an address he delivered at the forum on Sunday, Momani highlighted the role of the media and its influence on people’s ways of thinking, stressing the importance of combating the abuse of media tools to spread radicalism.

He highlighted Jordan’s media strategy and its efforts to reflect the true image of Islam and counterviolence, and radicalism.

The minister stressed the strong Jordanian-Kuwaiti coordination regarding different Middle East issues, noting that the Kingdom considers the Gulf’s security as an indivisible part of its own security.

During a visit to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Momani called for boosting media cooperation between Petra and its Kuwaiti counterpart, underscoring the KUNA’s diversified media services and professionalism.

During his meeting with KUNA Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Al Duaij Al Sabah, the minister highlighted the media’s role in raising Arab awareness of challenges related to terrorism and extremism.

 

The two sides agreed on the need to boost Arab media cooperation and develop the sector, especially at this critical stage as the region witnesses rapid changes and developments.
