AMMAN — Newly elected deputy Abed Mahseiri was sworn in as a member of Parliament on Monday during a Lower House evening session.
Mahseiri won the Amman 2nd District seat in Saturday’s by-elections, which were organised to fill the seat left vacant by his brother Mohammad Mahseiri, who passed away shortly after the January 23 parliamentary polls.
Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour congratulated the MP, noting that the Independent Elections Commission officially notified the House of the by-election result.
The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) will conduct a by-election to fill the Lower House seat left vacant by Mohammad Mahseiri, who died of a heart attack last week, once officially notified by the Chamber of Deputies, IEC Spokesperson Hussein Bani Hani said on Sunday.
The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Monday received an official notification from parliament that a Lower House seat is now vacant due to the death of Amman MP Mohammad Mahseiri.
Abed Ali Mohammed Elayan Mahseiri won Amman’s 2nd District’s by-elections, according to an announcement by the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) board of commissioners that was made on Sunday.
