Media delegates, Srour discuss Access to Information Law

AMMAN — A media delegation met on Sunday with Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour and urged him to ask the government to withdraw a draft law amending the Access to Information Law, according to a statement issued by the Centre for Defending the Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ).
During the meeting, the delegates stressed the need for further consultations with civil society and media institutions to introduce amendments to the law that would provide the public with the right to access information.
The Centre for Defending the Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) is pushing for amendments to the bill amending the Access to Information Law, which was endorsed by the Cabinet and submitted to the 17th Lower House recently.
