AMMAN — The Palestinian Affairs Department on Sunday will hold a coordination meeting for Arab countries hosting Palestinian refugees, with attendees from Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt, and a delegation from the Arab League.

The meeting comes ahead of the UNRWA meetings scheduled at the Dead Sea on June 18 and 19, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Acting director general of the Palestinian Affairs Department, Nidal Haddad, stressed the importance of coordinating stances for UNRWA to carry out its tasks towards the Palestinian refugees, noting that the financial crisis suffered by the agency will have a negative impact on its programmes which include education, health and relief services.

Jordan counts over 2 million Palestinian refugees, Haddad noted, highlighting Jordan's steadfast stance and the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah to support UNRWA.

He commended the Kingdom's efforts in exerting all necessary efforts to support the Agency to overcome the financial crisis and called on all donor countries to shoulder their responsibilities.
