AMMAN — German Chancellor Angela Merkel will begin an official visit to the Kingdom on Wednesday, during which she will hold talks with His Majesty King Abdullah on bilateral relations and regional and international developments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The German Chancellor will be accompanied by a delegation of German parliamentarians and businesspeople.
According to the German embassy in Amman, Germany is Jordan’s most important European trading partner, along with Italy. In 2016, German exports to Jordan were worth approximately 716 million euros, compared with Jordanian exports to Germany amounting to around just 24 million euros.
Germany is also one of the biggest bilateral donors, along with the United States. Due to Jordan’s serious shortage in water resources, the German Water Partnership has selected Jordan as one of its focus countries.
