Minister meets stakeholders to improve truck sector

AMMAN — Minister of Transport Waleed Masri on Sunday chaired a meeting to discuss the problems of the truck sector, in the presence of Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) Director General Salah Lozi Lawzi and a number of operators, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Masri listened to the demands of the operators mainly related to the minimum wage for truck drivers and to allowing individual operators to operate freely in the sector.
The minister stressed the need to solve all problems faced by the operators, to take their demands and suggestions into consideration and to look for concrete solutions over the next few years, stressing the importance of focusing on upgrading the transport sector and motivating operators to develop it.
He also instructed taking measures that are in the interest of the operators and consistent with the legislation governing the sector, in addition to reconsidering the procedures that serve the public interest of the operators and of the sector as a whole.
