AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said that 80 per cent of negative comments made during crises come from outside Jordan in order to aggravate public opinion and create chaos, according to a Jordan Media Institute (JMI) statement.
During a lecture at JMI, Momani said that the parties behind “fake” news targeting the Kingdom are known by the government, stressing the role of the media in protecting the domestic front.
Momani added the local press is "strong" and "capable" of criticising the government in a constructive manner that places the national interests at its heart. The minister also said that the level of freedom in Jordan is advanced and is considered a major constituent of the country's strength.
