Amman is now member of the Healthy Cities Initiative, which is a group of cities aimed at addressing non-communicable diseases and injuries, which was launched in May, 2017 by Michael Bloomberg, World Health Organisation global ambassador for non-communicable Diseases and former mayor of New York, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Amman will implement relevant procedures in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, the executive partner Vital Strategies and Royal Health Awareness Society.

It is an over due initiative. This is good for the Jordanian citizen good well. If successful reducing smoking in Jordan, the government will see great savings in health care due to reduction in illness.

Good initiative - but they won't collaborate with locals (concerned citizens, community activists and social entrepreneurs) who have been trying to get government to act for years!
