Over 750,000 passengers travelled through QAIA during September

AMMAN — Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 751,810 passengers (PAX) during September, a 1.9- per cent rise in comparison with the same month last year, according to Airport International Group. 

The airport also witnessed 6,771 aircraft movements and handled 9,329 tonnes of cargo, registering a 0.7- per cent and 9.4-per cent increase, respectively, said an Airport International Group report. 

Between January and September, QAIA received 6,913,596 PAX, a 5.7- per cent increase compared with the same period in 2018. Year-to-date aircraft movements has amounted to 61,266, showing a 3.7- per cent surge, and 76,180 tonnes of cargo have been handled, marking a 1.7- per cent decline, the report said.

“We are very pleased with the positive monthly PAX figures we have been experiencing since the beginning of the year, which are a clear indication that our collective efforts are being steered in the right direction and are coming to fruition,” Airport International Group CEO Kjeld Binger was quoted in the report as saying.

“We will continue to work towards helping QAIA reach its full potential as Jordan’s prime gateway to the world, while playing a vital role in promoting the Kingdom as an attractive tourist destination, both regionally and internationally,” he added.
