Palestine Committee calls for more guards after Al Aqsa Mosque break-in

AMMAN — The Lower House Palestine Committee on Monday discussed the break-in at Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli agriculture minister, Uri Ariel, and dozens of settlers.

MP Yahya Saud, head of the panel, said that what the Israeli minister did is “a clear provocation to Muslims” and an intrusion of the occupying force on Jerusalem and Islamic holy sites, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Panel members praised the Awqaf Ministry’s proactive procedures to safeguard the mosque through calling for an international conference to be held under the Royal Patronage, and increasing the number of guards at the mosque.

The conference will aim to enhance the administrative role of the Awqaf Ministry and Hashemite custodianship, among other goals.
