Palestinian issue ‘at the core’ of Mideast issues — Chinese president

AMMAN — Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message to the United Nations that the Palestinian cause is “at the core” of the Middle East issues during a UN meeting held on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on Tuesday, according to the Chinese embassy in Amman. 

The embassy said that the president noted that a comprehensive and just settlement of the issue bears on regional stability and peace, as well as international equality and justice, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing an embassy statement. 

Peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel and joint development serve the long-term interests of both sides and represent a common aspiration of the peoples of all countries, President Xi added. 

He called on the international community to commit to the two-state solution, prioritise the Palestinian cause in the international agenda and assist the Palestinian people in realising their dream of establishing an independent state without delay.
