AMMAN — On Thursday, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wissam Rabadi called on the international community to support Jordan to enable the government to continue offering basic services to Syrian refugees, mainly on the health and educational levels, the costs of which have increased since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The minister, accompanied by UNHCR Representative to Jordan Dominik Bartsch, on Thursday conducted a field visit to check on the government preventive healthcare centre at Zaatari refugee camp for Syrian refugees and had a firsthand look at the living conditions of Syrians residing in the camp, according to a ministry statement.

Also on Thursday, Rabadi visited Mafraq as part of the official field visits to governorates amidst the coronavirus pandemic to check on the availability of food supplies and vegetables in the governorate, located some 80 kilometres northeast of Amman.

The minister urged businesses to commit to health and safety procedures in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, calling on merchants to adhere to price ceilings set by the government.
