AMMAN — Pleasant summer weather is expected during Eid Al Fitr, with temperatures remaining around the annual average for this time of year,  the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Monday.

“No heatwaves are forecast during Eid Al Fitr,” JMD meteorologist Raed Rafed told The Jordan Times.

The public holiday for Eid Al Fitr, the Muslim feast marking the end of the fasting month, starts on Tuesday and ends on Friday.

Temperatures in the capital will reach a high of between 31ºC and 33ºC, Rafed said, noting that the annual average for this time of the year in Amman is 31.5ºC.

Daytime temperatures in the desert and the Eastern Badia will be 35ºC to 36ºC, he said, adding that ordinary summer weather will also prevail.

Meanwhile, temperatures in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba and the Dead Sea will reach a maximum of 39ºC to 40ºC, Rafed said, noting that temperatures there will also be around their annual average.
