AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Monday visited the headquarters of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), where he was received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and a number of senior army officials.

The premier, who is also the minister of defence, and Freihat discussed a number of issues including a plan to develop the Royal Medical Services, starting with buildings, infrastructure and the training of medical staff to provide high-quality services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The JAF is in the process of establishing a university to teach various medical sciences, with the aim of achieving the utmost levels of distinction and professionalism locally and within the region.

Razzaz and Freihat also reviewed the achievements of the National Service Programme, which seeks to provide a number of Jordanian youth with professional and military training to instill the spirit of patriotism.

Talks addressed plans to develop and modify the programmes in order to support the economy with “qualified and disciplined” personnel that are highly efficient upon entering the labour market.

The premier expressed pride in the JAF’s efforts and the distinguished level of professionalism achieved.
