AMMAN — Police on Monday announced the arrest of four men during a raid on a house in an Amman neighbourhood.
“The men are brothers and we wanted to apprehend just two of them but for the time being we arrested all four,” Public Security Department Spokesperson Lt. Col. Mohammad Khatib said.
The five-minute raid in Jabal Ashrafieh, which started at 5:45am, went smoothly without any major incidents or resistance on the part of the suspects, Khatib told The Jordan Times.
“We received a tip that the two suspects were staying at a house in Jabal Ashrafieh and a special police force surrounded the house at midnight,” he said.
The police official added that the suspects were taking illegal drugs so “we waited for around five hours until they were done and then raided the house”.
Khatib noted that the two suspects are wanted on several charges, ranging from “attempted murder and aggravated assault to robbery, possession and use of illegal drugs and possession of illegal weapons”.
The two wanted brothers will be referred to the criminal court prosecutor, while the other two will be freed after being questioned by the authorities, according to Khatib.
