AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan on Thursday attended the closing ceremony of  the 15th International Conference on the History and Archaeology of Jordan (ICHAJ 15) at Yarmouk University under the title “Thoughtful Archeology in the Ecosphere and Sociosphere”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The triennial conference, which was organised by the Department of Antiquities and Yarmouk University, featured 294 scientists, researchers, academics and experts from around the world.

In his speech, the prince highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in studying human culture as a common wealth, noting that investing in the common heritage as human beings can develop a culture of inclusive multidisciplinary thinking.

Prince Hassan expressed hopes of developing an institution for regional cultural heritage in the Levant, and that the end of this conference will mark the beginning of joint efforts to build a culture of understanding, dialogue and universal values.

Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez extended appreciation for the support provided by Prince Hassan and his keenness to follow up on the recommendations presented by participants in the conference.

He underlined the importance of holding this conference, which constitutes a platform for exchanging expertise and knowledge among researchers, building networks and coordinating between the concerned authorities.

The conference’s recommendations will be finalised to be used as a roadmap for researchers and those interested in archaeology, anthropology and cultural heritage to preserve cultural and civilisational heritage and enable communities to contribute to the sustainability and preservation of archaeological sites.
