AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, on Monday inaugurated the activities of the 32nd National Guidance Meeting in Dibeen, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The meeting, organised by the Education Ministry’s boy scouts and girl guides department, will run until September 13, at the Princess Basma's Scouts Camp.

Targeting 300 girl guides from around the country, the event aims at giving them the chance to participate in various activities, raising their awareness on the values and importance of voluntary work while providing them with leading skills that will "positively affect their personalities".

The princess expressed her pride in the Jordanian scouting activities, stressing the importance of these meetings in strengthening these activities' role in developing Jordanian youth leaders.

She praised the enthusiasm of the participating girl guides and their great awareness of the guidance activity's importance in developing their talents and life skills.

Education Ministry Secretary General Mohammad Okour noted that the ministry has allocated two classes per week for these activities, in order to develop the students' skills and enhance guidance's role in the education process.

Raeda Bader, the camp chief, highlighted the importance of such events in shaping the talents of girl guides, as it leads to the exchange of experiences and contributes in increasing the rate of membership for the girl guides activities.
