AMMAN — HRH Princess Haya, a UN Messenger of Peace Combatting Hunger and Poverty, has joined international efforts launched by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to impose a ceasefire around the world to allow countries to focus on facing the novel coronavirus.
“As a UN Messenger of Peace Combatting Hunger and Poverty, I am joining other @UnitedNations Messengers of Peace in supporting the appeal for a global ceasefire made by Secretary-General @antonioguterres,” Prince Haya said on her Instagram account.
The princess added: “It is time to focus, together, on the true fight of our lives — #COVID19.” “We are facing a global crisis unlike any we have seen before. Meanwhile, armed conflict rages on around the world and the most vulnerable pay the highest price,” Princess Haya said.
She also called on all of humanity to take inspiration from the acts of solidarity, cooperation and kindness shown by governments, communities and individuals everywhere. She concluded her post by saying: “History will remember an act of collective courage.”
