Princess Muna attends fourth World Innovation Summit for Health

AMMAN — HRH Princess Muna recently attended the fourth World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) at Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha, a statement from HRH’s Office said.

The summit, attended by Sheikh Hamad Al Thani and inaugurated by Sheikha Moza, chairperson of Qatar Foundation, was held last week with the participation of over 2,000 policymakers, health experts, government health ministers, in addition to academics, innovators and entrepreneurs from 100 countries.

On the sidelines of the summit, Princess Muna met with Sheikha Moza to discuss cooperation in the health sector, as well as current healthcare challenges and developments both regionally and globally.

HRH also participated in the “Women Leaders in Healthcare Circle” WISH meeting, which was inaugurated by Sheikha Al Thani, who is the vice chairperson and CEO of the Qatar Foundation, and attended by women leaders, including Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland, Minister of Public Health in Qatar Hanan Kuwari, CEO of WISH Sultana Afdhal and Rowaida Al Maaitah from Jordan.

During the summit, Princess Muna toured the WISH Innovation Hub and attended various plenary and panel sessions on strengthening health systems, innovation and evidence-based policy, universal health coverage and the role of nursing in attaining sustainable development goals, the statement said.

She also met with healthcare leaders, including Afdhal; Lord Darzi of Denham, executive chair of WISH, Chairman of the Nursing Now campaign Lord Nigel Crisp, as well as its board members: President of the ICN Annette Kennedy, and WHO high officials such as Jim Campbell, director of the Health Workforce Department, and Elizabeth Iro, chief nursing officer.

Also in Doha, Princess Muna attended the official inauguration of Sidra Medicine, a brand new world-leading women’s and children’s hospital and innovative research centre.

The hospital was inaugurated on November 12 by Sheikha Moza during a ceremony attended by Sheikh Hamad, the statement concluded.
