AMMAN — Aiming to bring different segments of society together, the International Community School (ICS) organised an iftar for about 100 orphans from Naour earlier this week.

Some 22 young people, including ICS students, volunteered to organise the banquet for the children to break their day-long fast and “get them in the spirit of Ramadan”.

Organisers said the iftar is an annual event held by the school in order to encourage communication and discussions among different segments of society.

“We try as much as possible to engage students with people from different backgrounds, especially during Ramadan, so they can appreciate what they have,” Neda Madanat, from the ICS charity committee, told The Jordan Times.

“It is very important to expose students to the various issues in the Kingdom and the region, and raise their awareness on situations of families outside their borders,” Madanat said.

During the iftar, the children discussed several stories with Jordanian author Taghreed Najjar.

Moreover, 200 aid parcels will be delivered to schools in underprivileged areas around Jordan, she noted.
