Ruseifa phosphate hills rehabilitation project starts

AMMAN — Officials on Wednesday announced the start of the implementation phase of the project to rehabilitate the phosphate hills in Ruseifa District in Zarqa Governorate, in line with Royal directives aimed at enhancing the environmental and developmental status of the area and in response to the needs of its residents, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The deputies of Ruseifa area voiced their appreciation for the Royal directives and for the efforts of the Phosphate Company and the various government agencies that joined forces to rehabilitate the area to benefit the local community.
Phosphate mining works have been suspended in Ruseifa area since 1985, and the total volume of waste in the area is estimated at 7 million cubic metres.
