AMMAN — Saudi Arabia’s decision to reduce the number of pilgrims for the greater and lesser Muslim pilgrimages to Mecca is due to expansion work at the Grand Mosque and has nothing to do with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus, Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Sami Al Saleh said Saturday.
Saleh said his country is still committed to supporting Jordan and helping it face economic burdens, noting that Saudi Arabia has so far presented 75 per cent of its $1.25 billion share of the Gulf grant to Jordan.
Saleh said around 8,000 Saudi students are enrolled in Jordanian universities.
