AMMAN — ICT Minister and Minister of Public Sector Development Majd Shweikeh on Thursday urged public servants to provide the best services to visitors of public departments to avoid delays in paperwork and overcrowding.

During a visit to Marka Civil Status and Passport Office, Shweikeh called for providing services in a way that shows employees’ keenness on resolving any administrative problems that service recipients may face, according to a statement released by the Public Sector Development Ministry.

Shweikeh also highlighted the importance of assessing strengths and weaknesses at service departments, and the direct communication with service recipients, adding that public service providers should be evaluated through facts based on their actual performance.

She also noted that the level of services provided and commitment to applying public service laws are now the main factors in assessing the performance of civil servants.

The minister said that focusing on improving the level of public services, increasing public sector efficiency and respecting the rule of law in public administration will all contribute to providing high-quality services that meet the expectations of service recipients.

Shweikeh spoke with office visitors to identify problems they may face while applying for official documents, such as birth certificates, ID cards or passports, and listened to their suggestions on possible solutions.

Civil Status and Passport Department acting director Motadel Rimawi and Marka office director Mohammad Rifai briefed the minister on office procedures and the services the facility present to its visitors.

She expressed her satisfaction for citizens’ high demand to replace their IDs with smart cards.
