Six suspected drug traffickers arrested

AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have arrested six suspected drug traffickers in special operations conducted in Mafraq, Irbid and Maan. Police seized significant quantities of drugs and firearms from the possession of the suspects during the raids.

The Public Security Directorate’s spokesperson on Sunday said that in Mafraq, two suspected drug dealers were arrested after a vehicle chase, resulting in the seizure of 2,000 narcotic pills and seven palm-sized sheets of hashish.

Another raid in the same governorate yielded in the confiscation of 15 sheets of hashish and 2,000 narcotic pills from a vehicle belonging to another two suspects. In Irbid, a suspected drug dealer with a history of offenses was arrested, and authorities found 23 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 2,000 narcotic pills, a quarter kilogramme of synthetic cannabis (locally known as Joker), and two firearms at his residence.

In Maan, surveillance of a suspected drug dealer led to his arrest. Upon a search, authorities found 2,000 narcotic pills, unspecified quantities of hashish, a firearm and ammunition in his possession, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
