AMMAN — Temperatures are expected to rise on Friday as the Kingdom remains under the impact of a hot air mass, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Thursday.

The hot air mass started affecting the Kingdom midweek, bringing temperatures slightly above the annual average of 32.5ºC for this time of year, JMD meteorologist Issam Yacoub said.

“The hot air mass will continue prevailing until Sunday at least. Temperatures will be up to three degrees higher than the annual average for this time of year, and humidity levels will also be higher,” Yacoub told The Jordan Times.

He underlined that the source of the hot air mass influences humidity levels, noting that the current hot air mass is blowing from above the Mediterranean Sea.

“The humidity and the high clouds are more noticeable during the early morning and at night,” Yacoub added.

Friday’s weather will be humid, relatively hot in the mountains and hot across the Kingdom, with high and mid altitude clouds in the eastern region, according to the department.

Temperatures will be 35ºC during the day, dropping to 23ºC at night in the capital, while winds will be northwesterly moderate.

Humid and hot weather is also forecast across the Kingdom on Saturday, when temperatures will be 35ºC during the day and 23ºC at night in Amman, while winds will be northwesterly moderate.

On Sunday, the JMD forecasts a slight drop in temperatures, but the weather will remain relatively hot in the mountains and hot across the Kingdom, with high-altitude clouds.

Daytime temperatures will be 34ºC, dropping to 21ºC at night in the capital, while winds will be northwesterly moderate.
