AMMAN — The media committee of the 28th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council, launched on Thursday its social media platforms on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, under the handle @ArabSummit2017.

“Launched for the first time as an interactive tool for Arab summits, these platforms aim to expand outreach with journalists and followers of news related to the Amman summit,” the committee said in a statement.

The summit is scheduled to be held in the period March 23-29.

“These platforms further seek to engage Arab youth — the largest segment in Arab societiesand the vast majority of social media users,” the committee added.

While social media networks are widely used across the Arab world, Jordan is “the largest producer of Arabic content on the Internet”, it said.

The official social media platforms of the Arab Summit will offer up-to-date “multimedia news and informative content”, available through the following channels: www.facebook.com/ArabSummit2017, www.twitter.com/ArabSummit2017 and https://goo.gl/ydNCQr.

The summit’s preparatory meetings will be held in the Dead Sea area from March 23-27, while the Arab League Council Meeting at the Summit Level will be held on March 29 at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea, some 60km southwest of Amman.
