AMMAN — In cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), representatives of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) and Standard Chartered Bank employees on Saturday planted hundreds of olive trees at Khaled Bin Al Waleed Park in the southern Marka housing area.

The initiative seeks to boost food security for nearby villagers, with the proceeds of olive sales going to benefit them under an agreement with GAM, according to an APN statement.

More than 25,000 villagers who live near the park suffer from poor living conditions and a lack of services, such as sanitation and electricity.
