Srour discusses Mideast peace with Palestinian lawmaker

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour on Monday received a letter of congratulations from the speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Aziz Dweik, presented by Palestinian Deputy Mohammad Al Ghoul, according to a Lower House statement.
During their meeting, Srour reiterated Jordan’s support for Palestinians in their quest to establish their own independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Ghoul said the Palestinians will not give up on regaining their legitimate right to freedom and statehood despite daily Israeli attacks, reiterating the Palestinians’ rejection of Israeli plans for an alternate homeland.
The two lawmakers also discussed the latest regional developments, mainly the situation in Syria, the statement said.
Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour on Thursday met with Hisham Tal, president of the Court of Cassation and the Higher Judicial Council, and the council’s members to discuss cooperation between the judicial and legislative authorities, according to a Lower House statement.
Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour on Thursday underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation between the legislative, executive and judicial powers in developing the country.
Lower House Speaker Saad Hayel Srour is scheduled to hold a press conference at 11am on Thursday at Parliament headquarters.
