Stakeholders discuss establishment of air ambulance association
By Petra - Nov 15,2014 - Last updated at Nov 15,2014
AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Saturday headed a meeting to discuss necessary procedures to establish a nonprofit association with an air ambulance and evacuation centre.
The project came following directives by His Majesty King Abdullah to provide the air paramedics service. The King has donated two helicopters and will cover expenses of their maintenance for two years.
Representatives from the Royal Jordanian Air Force, Royal Medical Services, Health Ministry, Private Hospitals Association and Civil Defence Department (CDD) attended the meeting.
Participants discussed the proposed association’s work mechanisms, identified its mission and tackled the foundation procedures needed. The facility will provided paid services.
The work of the association will not be an alternative to the air ambulance and evacuation services the Jordan Armed Forces and CDD provide; instead, it will support their work and target the private sector and foreign patients seeking treatment in the Kingdom.
The services offered are planned to reach remote areas and to transport injured people to specialised medical centres.
