Symposium on pest management concludes

AMMAN — The First International Symposium on Horticultural Insects Management concluded on Thursday in Amman.
Participants at the four-day event called for turning it into an annual conference. They also stressed the need to publish the research papers discussed at the meeting to reach a wider audience.
The conference, organised by the Regional Centre on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development for the Near East, covered challenges related to providing quality food at reasonable prices and protecting plants from pests and diseases.
Scientists from around 14 countries took part in the event.
The First International Symposium on Horticultural Insects Management opens on Monday in Amman.
His Majesty King Abdullah receives a plaque from the Royal Medical Services as he attended the opening session of the Fifth International Conference of the Royal Medical Services on the shores of the Dead Sea.
His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday sent a cable to Saudi King Abdullah Ben Abdul Aziz congratulating him on the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s national day. The King also sent a cable to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh congratulating him on the anniversary of the September 26 revolution.
