Tarawneh deplores Israeli violations at Ibrahimi Mosque

By JT - Aug 09,2020 - Last updated at Aug 09,2020

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU) Atef Tarawneh on Saturday condemned the Israeli confiscation of parts of Ibrahimi Mosque's land.

In a statement issued by the APU, Tarawneh highlighted the occupation authorities' continuous provocative acts that create more tension and instability in the region. The APU called on the United Nations and all international and regional parliaments to shoulder their responsibility in protecting Muslim and Christian holy sites.

The statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reiterated the union's “absolute” support to Palestinians. An Israeli court recently rejected a petition filed by the Hebron Municipality against the installation of an elevator inside the mosque, Petra added.
