Tarawneh meets with UN human rights adviser, discusses gov’t efforts

AMMAN — The Government Coordinator for Human Rights Basil Tarawneh met on Sunday with UN Senior Human Rights Adviser Ekkehard Strauss and an accompanying delegation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, Tarawneh outlined the government’s programmes for the implementation of the Comprehensive National Human Rights Plan for the years 2019-2020.
Tarawneh highlighted Jordan’s report for the Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights and the government’s coordination and responses in this regard.
Strauss praised His Majesty King Abdullah’s efforts in supporting human rights in Jordan, in addition to the Jordanian government’s efforts in supporting the partnership between the government and civil society institutions, stressing the necessity of sustaining cooperation and dialogue between the two sides.
